Spring 2024 Meeting Schedule

It’s time for a winter 2023-24 recap and of course it’s the annual Oregon AMS Executive Council nomination meeting. You must be a current Oregon AMS member to nominate a fellow Oregon AMS member at this meeting.

When: Wednesday, March 13th @ 7pm (6pm social hour)

Who: Guest speaker; Mark Nelsen; KPTV-12 Chief Meteorologist takes his annual “look back” at the winter that was. Also, how did last fall’s OMSI winter weather forecasts pan out?

Where: Golden Valley Brewery – 1520 NW Bethany Blvd, Beaverton, OR 97006. All ages are welcome!  NEW — This year we get the BIG downstairs room! Hold’s 100! Let’s fill ‘er up! Exit Hwy 26 westbound at Cornell Rd.

IMPORTANT… No RSVP is needed. A dinner purchase is strongly encouraged at this meeting as we have a mandatory food & beverage minimum to meet. Menus will be provided ranging from approx. $10-$25 a plate. Same routine as previous years!

April Oregon AMS Meeting

What: “Tornado! Tools & Technologies used in Forecasting and Broadcast TV Coverage.” 

Synopsis: Looking at tornado coverage through the use of radar, microwave technology, cellular technology, and a camera lens. Examining how TV meteorologists use tools to save lives and property.

When: Wednesday, April 17th @ 7pm (6pm social hour)

Who: Guest speaker; Bobby Corser, Oregon AMS Vice President / Digital content producer, KATU-TV.
Where: McMenamins Restaurant (Lloyd District) – 1504 N.E. Broadway, Portland, Oregon 97232. We have the upstairs closed-door banquet room reserved. Max capacity 35 people.

Parking: Park one block north of Broadway (in the neighborhood for free) if you can not find available metered parking on Broadway. Meters end at 7pm.
